In some cases power failures will cause Sims to drop its link to the database (On Network Setup).  Follow the next procedure
to copy the configured network file back to the workstation :

1.  Double click on My Network Places / Network Neighborhood
2.  Double click on Microsoft Windows Network or Entire Network
3.  Double clikc on the domain name
4.  Look for the machine where datasims resides (etc. server)
5.  Double click on server
6.  The folder datasims should be shared on this network machine
7.  In the datasims folder you will normally find a folder called FrontEnd.  Double click on this folder.
8.  Right click on the file sims2000e in this folder and left click on Copy
9.  Right click on Start and choose Explorer.
10. Select C:/Program Files and go to sims2000
11. Right click on sims2000 and left click on Paste
12. Choose to overwrite the previous file.

When the above procedure has been followed you can resume your session in Sims
